Our Mission
Our commitment is to keep vital connection with the environment that have nurtured humankind since the dawn of life.
UnplugOurKids was formed to bring more nature into our nature-deficit culture, to provide unstructured time in nature to our over-scheduled kids and to connect over-stressed parents.
Our Philosophy
We encourage children’s understanding and appreciation of nature, community and self.
Through exploration, adventure and unstructured play children experience nature, gaining knowledge of natural processes, plants, animals, survival skills and sustainability.
Year-round, rain or shine in forest school for young children, in after-school programs for elementary and middle school kids learning takes place in Seattle's abundant public parks and community gardens.
Our Resourcer Center offers articles and books that have inspired us and we hope will inspire you too.

The Journey
We organize regularly scheduled, year-round, all-weather family outings and hikes for kids.
We focus on outdoor free time and encourage adults to follow their children's lead, fostering their natural sense of wonder and awe.
Occasionally we will invite special guests, naturalists, artists and offer special nature activities, crafts, storytimes, etc.
We are local Seatlle group located in Magnolia, dedicated to building a community of families interested in connecting their children to nature in and around Seattle area.
We are open to ANYONE who wishes to connect their family to nature.
Whether you are a seasoned outdoor enthusiast or a beginner, you are welcome. Bring your sense of adventure and be ready to have some fun!
